Pirots 5 is ELK Studios showing off. After Pirots 4 sent the birds to space, this one drags them back to Earth, straight into a crash landing, a torched map, and a haunted Egyptian tomb guarded by a very grumpy ghost pirate. Standard Tuesday for these four.
What actually earns your attention is how clean it all looks. You’ve got four birds, boulders, traps, and a coin game all going off on one grid, and somehow it never turns into scrambled eggs on screen. That’s harder than it sounds. Most “feature-packed” slots collapse into visual soup the second two things happen at once, think Gates of Olympus or Sweet Bonanza during a big multiplier hit. Pirots 5 keeps its head, even when it’s throwing everything but the kitchen sink at you.

The game runs on a 6×6 grid that expands up to 8×8, with four collector birds working the board to gather matching gems. Behind that familiar core sits a genuinely dense feature stack: cascading drops, gem-level upgrades, tokens, traps, portals, a Cursed Temple Coin Game, Bonus and Super Bonus modes, and X-iter buy-in entry points. ELK rates it 7/10 on volatility, medium-high, with a base hit frequency of 25.1% and a ceiling of 10,000x the stake. RTP tops out at 96.00%, 94%, 92%, 90%, 87% depending on the operator, so it’s worth checking which build a casino has live before you judge the math from someone else’s session.
The regular paytable is built around four gem colours, blue, green, purple, and red, each climbing through seven payout levels marked by size and ornamentation rather than numbers. Blue is the entry-level gem, running 0.05x to 7.5x the bet, with green just above it at 0.05x to 10x. Purple picks up the pace at 0.1x to 15x, and red tops the table at 0.1x to 25x, making it the one worth watching once a bird starts stacking levels.
Beyond the gems, the grid throws in a rotating cast of special symbols to keep things unpredictable: Coins that pay out straight cash prizes, a wider pool of Feature symbols that trigger the game’s various mechanics, Traps that work against the birds rather than for them, and Bonus symbols represented by a stone scarab.
A slot cannot be truly judged by just 100 spins — a game’s RTP is calculated across billions of spins, and no short session can tell the complete story. We know that. That’s why we play well beyond 100 spins before forming any opinion on a game.
But the 100 Spins Experience is something specific — a dedicated documented window within that session designed to give you a clear, honest snapshot of the game.

Each bird can only grab symbols sitting directly next to it, up, down, left, or right. Special symbols are fair game for any bird, but gems only get picked up by their matching colour. Once collecting stops, the board drops and refills. Every gem or Wild collected feeds the Collection Meter, and when it fills up, it holds until the grid runs out of moves, then releases a batch of feature symbols onto the board.
Feature symbols aren’t just a Collection Meter reward, they can also drop naturally on the reels during any regular spin.
Coin: cashes out immediately when picked up, and every so often it’s the symbol that pushes a round toward the max win.
Wild: acts as a stand-in for any gem colour, meaning whichever bird reaches it first can still collect it.
Upgrade: raises the payout tier of gems sharing the colour of the bird that grabbed it, jumping 1 to 3 levels higher.
Upgrade All: same levelling effect, except it hits every gem colour on the board in one go.
Captain Blackfeather: appears beside a bird and possesses it, converting it into a ghost that absorbs its current win total and whatever’s left to collect nearby; the gems it touches become Blackfeather gems, paying out between 0.15x and 30x the bet.
Transform: recolours a cluster of gems around the collecting bird to match its own colour, occasionally flipping a few into feature symbols instead.
Super Transform: works the same way as Transform, just applied to 2 or 3 clusters instead of one.

Captain Blackfeather doesn’t announce himself, he can show up on any drop, waiting quietly on the grid until a bird happens to land beside him. That’s when things turn strange, the bird stops being a bird. It’s possessed, turned into a ghost, and Blackfeather inherits everything it was carrying, its win counter, its gems, whatever feature symbols were still in reach.
Every gem he touches gets upgraded into a Blackfeather gem, worth anywhere from 0.15x to 30x a pop, and he’s not always content with one host either; there’s a real chance he spreads and takes over a second or even third bird before he’s done. Only once he’s picked the board clean of Blackfeather gems and feature symbols does he finally vanish, handing the round back to the birds.
Not every threat comes from the reels, some lurks underneath, waiting for a bird to step in the wrong spot. Three trap types can trigger this way. Together, these traps keep Pirots 5 unpredictable, a clean run can turn to chaos the moment a boulder starts rolling.
Arrow Trap fires at one or more birds. A hit removes that bird, with its gems passing to a surviving colour (or turning into Coins if every bird goes down). Removed birds return on the next refill.
Boulder Trap rolls a 2×2 to 4×4 boulder across the grid, crushing every gem, wall, and bird in its path. Same rule applies: crushed birds come back next refill.
Secret Door splits the grid into four quadrants and rotates them 180 degrees, scrambling positions. It also unlocks cross-over floor tiles, letting birds revisit already-collected spots once each.
Nine tokens are up for grabs, three each tied to Cursed Temple, The Kraken, and City of Gold. Each is worth 5x the bet and can land on any regular spin, except during the Cursed Temple bonus. Collect all nine, and Boss Castle unlocks permanently, a lasting reward beyond the token payouts themselves.
Land 3 bonus symbols during base play, and the reward is 5 free spins in the bonus round, kicking off right where the base game left off, same active rows and columns, no reset back to a fresh grid.
If one of those triggering symbols happens to be a super bonus, players are bumped straight into the Super Bonus instead.
What makes this round worth chasing is how much carries over. Grid size, Collection Meter progress, any open portals, and every gem upgrade earned so far all stay locked in through the feature, rather than starting from scratch the way many bonus rounds do. Captain Blackfeather sticks around too, but only if he hasn’t already been dealt with; once inactivated, he’s gone for good.
Landing another bonus symbol mid-feature doesn’t end things early either, it tacks on an extra drop instead. And in the Super Bonus specifically, every single drop opens with a cursed treasure coin rain, giving players a coin payout before the collection action even begins.
This one isn’t triggered like the standard Bonus or Super Bonus, it’s a byproduct of the Secret Door trap. If a Secret Door fires and the birds manage to clear every single symbol off the grid during that rotation sequence, the Cursed Temple mini game kicks in automatically. That makes it the rarest of the three big features, and arguably the most atmospheric since it’s tied to a specific in-play condition rather than a symbol count. Once triggered:

Pirots 5 is ELK Studios at its most confident. Five instalments into the CollectR series, the studio isn’t experimenting with whether the collect-and-consume loop works anymore, it’s stress-testing how much can be layered on top before it buckles. Between grid expansion, Captain Blackfeather, environmental traps, the Catacombs, tokens, and Boss Castle, this is the busiest the franchise has ever been, yet the round-to-round experience still reads as structured rather than chaotic, which is the harder trick to pull off.
Set against the wider market, Pirots 5 isn’t really chasing the fast, repetitive multiplier crowd, Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza solve for that instead. It’s better measured against its own back catalogue. Pirots 4 and PirotsX was the previous benchmark for polish and X-iter granularity, but Pirots 5 edges past it by adding genuine structural novelty rather than just a new skin.
What stands out most is the persistence layer. Boss Castle gives players a reason to return across sessions rather than treating each spin as self-contained, a genuine first for the series. The engineering underneath, a grid that resizes mid-round, multiple simultaneous animation systems, layered triggers, holds up impressively well without visible strain on screen.
However, the Egyptian theme is the safest choice the series has made, and the staggered content rollout is a real friction point, Boss Castle isn’t playable until September, so today’s version is only two-thirds complete. The feature density will also overwhelm players who just want simple, fast spins.
Overall, one of the series’ strongest entries for systems-minded players, less so for anyone wanting something lighter or faster.
Pirots 5 carries a default RTP of 96.00%, with operator-configured versions running lower at 94%, 92%, 90%, or 87%. ELK Studios rates volatility at 7/10 (medium-high), with a base hit frequency of 25.1%.
The maximum win is capped at 10,000x the stake, reachable through the game’s cascading gem collection, Captain Blackfeather upgrades, and the Cursed Temple Coin Game.
Four birds move across a 6×6 grid (expandable to 8×8) and collect matching gems from adjacent tiles. Each collected gem or Wild fills a Collection Meter that, once full, releases a batch of feature symbols onto the board once the grid runs out of moves.
Captain Blackfeather is a random possession event where a bird turns into a ghost carrying its current win total. Every gem he touches becomes a Blackfeather gem worth 0.15x to 30x the stake, and he can spread to possess a second or third bird before clearing out.
No. Boss Castle unlocks after collecting all nine tokens, but it isn’t playable until September, meaning the current release is only a partial rollout of the full feature set.
