Roadquake First Impression - Theme & Visuals

Peter & Sons, Breaking the Mold, Peter & Sons has always been a rebel in the slot world. While most studios recycle tired themes, this studio genuinely builds worlds you want to spend time in, strong characters, hand-drawn art, and real personality.
Their new slot, Roadquake, is a perfect example. Inspired by the Mad Max franchise, it’s not even their first trip down this road. Back in 2022, Wild 1 covered similar territory. But Roadquake feels like a serious upgrade. Load the game, and you’re instantly thrown into beautiful chaos, unhinged characters armed to the teeth, massive scrap-metal machines tearing across a desert wasteland. The grid itself sits on a giant bulldozer surrounded by a moving convoy of madness. And the music? It keeps that need-for-speed energy alive every single second.

Win Mechanism, RTP, Volatility Explained

In Roadquake, land 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid to win. Winning symbols vanish, new ones drop in, and the chain keeps going. Every winning position lights up a Multiplier Hotspot that keeps doubling with each cascade, all the way up to 1024x.

Low-paying symbols, green clover, blue diamond, pink spade, and red heart– need 14+ matches to pay 3x–5x your bet. High-paying symbols, grey, green, blue, pink man, and the red leader, also need 14+ matches but reward significantly more at 6x–15x your bet.

Roadquake lets you bet anywhere from €0.10 to €50, making it accessible whether you’re testing the waters or going all in. The RTP sits at a solid 96.4%, slightly above average, with a hit frequency of 24.98%. It’s high volatility, though, so expect dry spells before things explode.
The dream? A 20,000x max win. The reality check? It lands once every 1 in 100,000,000 spins. And depending on where you play, the RTP can drop to 94% or even 91%, so always worth checking before you spin.

A slot cannot be truly judged by just 100 spins — a game’s RTP is calculated across billions of spins, and no short session can tell the complete story. We know that. That’s why we play well beyond 100 spins before forming any opinion on a game.

But the 100 Spins Experience is something specific — a dedicated documented window within that session designed to give you a clear, honest snapshot of the game.

Roadquake Game Mechanics

Symbol Transformation:

The Minigun symbol appears in two forms, Regular and Hyper, and both activate the moment they land. The Regular Minigun picks one symbol from the grid and transforms every instance of it into another type, even if it has already won. The Hyper Minigun goes a step further, targeting two random symbol types and converting all instances of both into the same kind. They land randomly and can even appear on the board at the same time.

Bomb Upgrade:

The Bomb symbol appears in two forms, Standard and Hyper, and both explode at the end of a spin, multiplying all existing Multiplier Hotspots by 4x within their blast range. The Standard Bomb tears through a 2×3 area, while the Hyper Bomb goes bigger, unleashing its destruction across a 3×3 area. The larger the blast, the more hotspots get upgraded, and the more dangerous the board becomes.

Rocket Rampage:

The Rocket symbol works in two directions, vertical and horizontal. Both clear their entire column or row of all symbols except Scatters, Bombs, and Miniguns, while upgrading every Hotspot in their path by 2x. Rockets activate when there are no more wins on the panel or once a cascade round finishes. The Hyper version fires two rockets from the same position, one through its own column or row, and a second through the adjacent one beside or below it. If the rocket sits at the edge of the grid, the second rocket simply fires in the opposite direction instead. When a Vertical and Horizontal Rocket cross paths, the Hotspot at their intersection gets upgraded twice, making that single position significantly more dangerous for the spins ahead.

Bonus Game:

There are 3 Freespins game in Roadquake:
1. Free Spins:
Land 4 Scatters to unlock 7 spins. Multiplier Hotspots stop resetting between spins, so every upgrade you build stays and keeps growing throughout the session.

2. Super Free Spins:
Land 5 Scatters for 7 spins with everything the standard mode offers, plus all special symbols now land exclusively in their Hyper form, making every Minigun, Bomb, and Rocket hit considerably harder.

3. Mega Free Spins:
Land 5+ Scatters for the full experience. The entire board starts with x2 Hotspots already active, all specials are Hyper, and multipliers never reset. You’re not building momentum; you’re already in it from spin one.

Feature Buys in Roadquake:

Roadquake lets you skip straight to the action with 4 Feature Buy options, each instantly triggering a Free Spins mode at a fixed cost based on your current bet. Prefer a middle ground? Switch on the Ante Bet, it boosts your chances of naturally triggering Free Spins, though it bumps your current bet up by 1.5x.
• 100x: Jumps straight into Standard Free Spins
• 200x: Unlocks Super Free Spins immediately
• 300x: Takes a gamble itself, randomly awarding Standard, Super, or Mega Free Spins
• 600x: Goes straight to the top with Mega Free Spins, the most explosive mode in the game

Roadquake vs Wild 1:

Roadquake isn’t Peter & Sons’ first trip into Mad Max territory. Wild 1 came out in 2022 covering similar post-apocalyptic ground. But Roadquake feels like a genuine evolution rather than a retread. Wild 1 was more straightforward in its mechanics, a simpler take on the theme. Roadquake layers the Hotspot system, three weapon types each with Hyper variants, and three escalating free spin tiers into something considerably more complex. The max win stays at 20,000x but the routes to it are more varied and the potential for chain reactions is significantly higher. If Wild 1 was Peter & Sons testing the concept, Roadquake is them building the full version.

Roadquake Summary & Verdict:

Roadquake is Peter & Sons at their most unhinged, and that’s exactly the point. They’ve taken the raw, chaotic energy of the Mad Max universe and built a slot that doesn’t just look the part but plays like it too. Every spin feels like you’re in the middle of a moving convoy with no rules, no brakes, and no ceiling on how big things can get.

The mechanics are layered but rewarding. Scatter pays, cascading wins, Multiplier Hotspots that keep doubling, and a weapons arsenal of Miniguns, Bombs, and Rockets that constantly reshape the board, it all connects into one satisfying loop where one good spin can genuinely spiral into something enormous. Three tiers of Free Spins, a Feature Buy option, and an Ante Bet give enough flexibility for both patient players and those who just want to skip straight to the carnage.

Now, is any of this entirely new? Not exactly. The Hotspot multiplier building mechanic feels familiar across the industry, and if you’ve played Nolimit City’s Duck Hunters, you’ll notice more than a passing resemblance in how the weapons interact with the board. But here’s the thing, borrowed inspiration only matters if the execution falls flat. Roadquake’s doesn’t.

At 96.4% RTP and a max win of 20,000x, the numbers back up the ambition. Yes, it’s high volatility, dry spells are part of the deal. But when it hits, it hits hard. And for a studio that builds worlds rather than just games, that’s more than enough.

FAQs

What is the RTP of Roadquake?

Roadquake’s default RTP is 96.4% with a hit frequency of 24.98%. However multiple RTP configurations exist versions at 94% and 91% are also available to operators. Always check the in-game information panel at your specific casino before depositing real money to confirm which version is running. The difference between 96.4% and 91% on a high volatility game is significant over a session.

Every winning symbol position leaves behind a Multiplier Hotspot on the grid. Win on that same position again and the hotspot doubles starting at 2x and doubling through 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x, 512x up to a maximum of 1,024x. Hotspots reset between spins in the base game but persist throughout free spins  which is why the free spin tiers are so much more valuable than base game wins.

Free Spins (4 scatters) awards 7 spins with persistent hotspots. Super Free Spins (5 scatters) gives the same 7 spins but all special symbols  Minigun, Bomb, Rocket  land exclusively in their more powerful Hyper form. Mega Free Spins (5+ scatters) is the top tier  the entire board starts with x2 hotspots already active, all specials are Hyper, and multipliers never reset. You’re not building momentum from zero  you’re already running hot from spin one.

Both use a weapons-on-the-grid mechanic where special symbols interact with multiplier positions. Duck Hunters uses xNudge wilds and a different multiplier architecture. Roadquake’s Hotspot system is position-based  the multiplier lives on the grid coordinate, not the symbol. This means Roadquake rewards consistent cascades through the same grid positions, while Duck Hunters rewards wild positioning. Different approaches to a similar concept if you enjoy one the other is worth trying.

Roadquake by Peter & Sons should be available at most Canadian-friendly online casinos. Ontario players should verify availability at an iGaming Ontario licensed casino. Given the multiple RTP configurations available  96.4%, 94%, and 91%  always confirm the exact variant running at your casino in the in-game panel before depositing real CAD.
