Duck Hunters Happy Hour

Duck Hunter Happy Hour slot game by No Limit City

No Limit City kicked off the New Year the only way they know how: by firing a shotgun of fun straight into 2024 with the launch of “Duck Hunters Happy Hour.”
Yes, that legendary bird-blasting classic Duck Hunter is back and this time it’s had one too many cold ones. Fans of the studio will instantly feel at home, because the game logic is familiar, the chaos potential is sky-high, and the ducks? Still very much in danger.
The setting hasn’t changed much and honestly, why would it? We’re still in a glorious all-American backyard paradise: BBQ smoking like a champion, Beer flowing like freedom itself and Summer heat cranked to “hot dog melting” levels. It’s the kind of place where grills never go cold, eagles probably salute you, and every duck knows deep down, it picked the wrong pond.
Everything is loud, proud, and unapologetically fun. You don’t need a tutorial you already know what time it is. Load up, crack open a cold one, and let Happy Hour begin. After all, this is America at its finest: backyard BBQs, summer heat, and absolute harmony then the ducks show up and all hell quacks loose.

On the hunt, players will encounter a lineup of symbols that climb the ladder from everyday refreshments to full-on duck mayhem. Starting at the bottom are cans, bottles, and cocktails, followed by eggs, ducks, and finally four larger-than-life characters. Landing 8–9 of a kind delivers wins from 0.1x to 0.3x, while hitting 12 or more boosts payouts up to an impressive 1x–5x. Wild symbols can step in for any regular paying symbol to help complete winning combinations.
One of the most noticeable tweaks in Duck Hunter’s Happy Hour is the reshaped game grid, now laid out in a bold 4-5-6-6-5-4 pattern because even the hunting ground needed a happy hour makeover. You can also see the same multiplier mechanism behind the reels in Roadquake by Peter and Sons.

Game Mechanics

Scatter Wins

A win occurs whenever eight or more of the same symbol appear anywhere across the playfield. Those symbols are then cleared from the grid, causing the remaining symbols to tumble down and new ones to fall into place. Each cleared spot is marked with a x2 multiplier. If a future tumble creates another win on a position that already holds a multiplier, its value doubles again, continuing to stack and grow potentially reaching a massive x8,192 if the chain keeps going. Pretty straight forward like we have in Duck Hunters.

X-Ways and infectious X-Ways

X-Ways and Infectious X-Ways

X-Ways symbols act as enhancers rather than standard symbols. When they land, they convert into a regular paying icon and boost the multiplier on that position by 2x, 4x, or 8x.

The Infectious X-Ways symbols take this a step further. Not only do they transform in the same way, but the revealed symbol spreads across the grid, turning every matching symbol on the reels into that same icon.If multiple xWays or Infectious X-Ways appear at once, they don’t act independently instead, they all transform into a single identical symbol, amplifying the impact of the result.

X-Bomb

X-Bomb feature in Duck Hunters Happy Hour

When a Bomb detonates, it wipes out all paying symbols positioned around it. Any grid positions caught in the blast have their multipliers doubled. Once the explosion is complete, the Bomb transforms into a random symbol, which may be a medium-paying icon, a Wild, an Infectious X-Ways symbol, or even another Bomb. If multiple Bombs land in the same spin, all explosions occur first, and only then are their replacement symbols revealed. Wilds and scatter symbols remain untouched by the blast.

Freespins

The Free Spins feature is unlocked when 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols land in a single game round. Depending on how many scatters appear, players are rewarded with
1. 7 Duck Hunt Spins
2. 8 Hawk Eye Spins
3.
10 Big Game Spins.

Each bonus mode introduces a set of random upgrades that remain active for the duration of the feature, with the number of upgrades increasing as the bonus level improves. During any of these rounds, landing an “Extra +1 Shot” symbol adds one extra spin to the total.
Duck Hunt Spins begin with one randomly selected upgrade, chosen from:
• Upgraded Bombs, which function like standard Bombs but can no longer reveal mid-paying symbols
• Upgraded X-Ways, where only Infectious xWays symbols are in play
• Extra +2 Shots, which replace the usual Extra +1 Shot symbol
Aside from the selected upgrade, the base game mechanics remain unchanged.
Hawk Eye Spins build on Duck Hunt Spins by keeping the same mechanics but granting two random upgrades instead of one.
Big Game Spins push things to the limit, incorporating everything from Hawk Eye Spins and activating all three upgrades simultaneously for the duration of the feature.

100 Spins Adventure

During my 100 spins, I managed to hit the maximum win of €191, which made the session far more exciting than I had expected. I played throughout at a steady €1 bet and got lucky early on with a big €141 win. Feeling bold, I decided to take a chance on the extra spin feature, and that gamble paid off, pushing the total up to the €191 max win definitely a lucky moment. Once again, it was fascinating to see how the xWays and Infectious xWays mechanics played such a crucial role, rapidly amplifying wins and showing just how explosive the game can be when the right symbols land in the right places. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to trigger any bonus rounds during the session, but given the size of the wins achieved in the base game alone, it was still a highly entertaining and memorable run.

Duck Hunter Happy Hour Final Impression

Duck Hunters Happy Hour feels a bit like showing up to a wild house party only to realize it’s the same party as last time, just with the furniture moved and someone shouting “remix!” Nolimit City, usually the mad scientist of slot design happily bouncing from prison riots to cult rituals seems to have opted for a comfortable victory lap here, delivering something closer to Duck Hunters 1.2 than a full-blown sequel. Sure, the chaos still slaps: multipliers spiral into oblivion, Infectious X-Ways spread like a rash, and Bombs keep blowing things up except now they politely reveal new symbols instead of just nuking the grid, which is admittedly a neat trick. The max win is bigger at 33,333X, but good luck hitting it, since bonuses and peaks are statistically more elusive. None of this makes Happy Hour a bad game far from it but when expectations are this high, “slightly tweaked reels, smarter Bombs, and a marginally bigger payday” feels a little underwhelming. Fans of the original will happily order another round, newcomers get a chaotic introduction to Nolimit City’s candy-coated carnage, but anyone hoping for the rulebook to be shredded and set on fire might leave feeling like they’ve just watched the director’s cut, with commentary.
